Reading the Bible

Advice and Plans

A Catholic's Guide to Reading the Bible

Reading the Bible is the ideal way to strengthen your faith. The Bible is our way to communicate with God most effectively: It's how He speaks to us! Deciding to read the Bible is the first step, but deciding exactly how to read it is the most difficult part.

This approach to reading the Bible is not recommended for beginners. Although some stories will be easy to understand and appreciate, specific books can become quite confusing. But to those who are familiar with the Bible, reading from start to finish could be very helpful in understanding how the books fit together.                                         Link to plan

“Prayer purifies us, reading instructs us... If a man wants to be always in God's company, he must pray regularly and read regularly. When we pray, we talk to God; when we read, God talks to us."
-St. Isidore
